EII Capital Management, Inc. was founded in 1983 as a European family office advisor for the exclusive purpose of investing foreign capital in the United States across asset lines. Prior to establishing EII, the co-founders worked together at Goldman Sachs for ten years.
EII’s original mandates included equity, fixed income and private real estate investments for European families. From these combined efforts, we discovered the benefits of investing in securitized real estate as an alternative means of acquiring real property assets, and in 1987 developed a portfolio management service specifically for this asset class.
The firm received its first US REIT mandate from a European family in 1987, and began managing real estate securities portfolios for US institutions in 1993. In 2000, EII expanded its team and product offerings globally, to include European and Asian real estate securities management. Today, with local, on-the-ground investment expertise through a network of offices in North America, Europe and Asia, EII is one of few truly global boutiques managing real estate securities investments.
